Craigellachie 17

First impressions of the Craigellachie 17 are definitely enticing. With a very light amber color and sweetness on the nose, this malt presents you with long, enduring legs on the glass. The nose itself yields a caramel or perhaps toffee coming to the forefront.

Letting the first sip roll around the mouth, the first thing that really stood out was the somewhat uncharacteristic warmth that comes from this Speyside. Not overpowering at all, the palate also presents you with the same sweetness found on the nose, which slowly evolves into a bit of smokiness, and a bit of spice too (pepper maybe?), though all in excellent balance.

The finish is mid length, with the warming lingering only slightly. The harmony of flavors stays around long enough for you to enjoy, and begs for another sip.
My recommendation to best enjoy a dram of Craigellachie 17 is to drink it neat, outside on a cool night at the beginning or end of summer, and let all of your cares fade away with the warmth of the first sip.

ETKW Goes Social!

Some of you may noticed we have recently set up a new Facebook page to join our recent foray into the social world!  We hope that this will help expand our reach to more than what goes on behind closed doors at our monthly club meetings.  It just felt like the right time to start sharing our tasting experiences with all of you, and hopefully learn more from everyone else as well!

Already after a week, we have 42 likes on Facebook and 25 followers on Twitter!  Let’s see if we can get it to at least 50 each as soon as possible!

As a little treat, here are a few photos of our anniversaries starting from Year 1 to Year 7.  We had to dig deep into the archives, and unfortunately are missing years 2 and 4, but pretty great to see how much this club has grown in its 7 years of existence.

Cheers to everyone and do not forget to Like us on Facebook and Follow us on Twitter!

Expensive Taste KW

87 bottles, 7 years, 1 awesome club!

Hello all you fellow whisky samplers!

We have now setup a simpler list to view (and then browse to any information we have on our sampling) our wonderful archive of 87 bottles that Expensive Taste KW has tried in their 7 years of running.  Hopefully you have enjoyed one or many of the bottles we have tasted, and if so, please leave us a comment!  Stay with us until 100, I am sure that will be a treat.

Archives!

Hey Everyone,

Expensive Taste has now setup a Rye of the Month archive list to make it easy to see every bottle we have tried, as opposed to going through many pages to look at them through the Rye of the Month page in the menu above.  It also numbers the bottles… we have 14 to go to reach 100!  Crazy number.  But we have just reached 7 years since the club has started.  The archives can be accessed from the menu above or the link below.

Cheers,
